Dr Rabhya Dewshi

Dr Rabhya Dewshi is a senior clinical psychologist with 20 years of experience working with adults, couples, children and families. She has a specialist interest in childhood trauma, learning disabilities, sexual assault, personality disorder, cognitive analytic and systemic therapies. Her experience across adult as well as child work is particularly used in addressing parental and parenting issues.

She is an HCPC registered and chartered clinical psychologist with 20 years’ experience of working in the NHS and independently, with adults, children, and people with learning disabilities. She has worked with clients on a wide range of emotional, behavioural and mental health issues, including parenting difficulties, anxiety, depression, risky behaviours, personality disorder, relationship and attachment issues.

She has particular interests in complex mental health or personality disorders, recovery from trauma and loss, learning disabilities, sexual issues and how these impact on parenting.  She is able to draw on a wide range of approaches including behavioural, systemic, and cognitive analytic therapies to inform her about what will work for each person.

She regularly carries out parental of adults and children in care proceedings.  She has many years’ clinical experience relevant to expert witness work, and of safeguarding work, including assessments of parental capacity, risk, and children’s needs.  Her most recent NHS post worked with families in crisis, offering comprehensive psychological interventions to help professionals and families make decisions about placements, keeping children’s best interests in mind, and including contact with parents and siblings.
