Dr Graham Williams

Dr Williams has over 20 years’ clinical experience in (public and private) mental health sectors. After qualifying as a clinical psychologist in 2008, he specialised in the area of children, young people and parents. He currently divides his time between paediatric services in the NHS and expert witness instruction where he regularly reports to the family Courts under Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings.

He has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents and families, including those with and at risk of developing complex mental health problems (particularly developmental and complex trauma), developmental issues, child maltreatment and abuse. As a senior psychologist in CAMHS, Dr Williams was the service lead for trauma, working clinically and providing trauma training and education to staff teams in medical and education settings.

Dr Williams also has expertise working with neurodevelopmental/cognitive and attachment difficulties and has experience of working with looked after children. He has extensive knowledge and skills in relation to child protection, risk assessment and risk management. In addition, he has expertise in conducting assessments and psychological interventions of parental / adult mental health (particularly PTSD, anxiety and depression) in both community outpatient and forensic settings – including cognitive functioning and capacity assessments.  He has experience of working with domestic violence and substance misuse and is an accredited supervisor.
