Dr Rosemary Gomes

Dr Gomes is a clinical psychologist in both an NHS role and independent practice. She has specialised in working with children with disabilities including autism and their families, parental mental health and well-being and narrative and systemic approaches to complex family difficulties. Additionally, she has expertise and confidence in treating adult mental health difficulties in a wide variety of client groups with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.

Dr Gomes has undertaken expert witness work across the UK undertaking psychological assessments of adults, teenagers and children in families where parenting ability, attachment, family dynamics, domestic violence, substance misuse or relational issues have required a court report

Dr Gomes has produced court reports in her capacity as an expert witness in cases where a psychological assessment of both adults and children have been required in the context of child protection plans, domestic abuse, substance misuse, autism, mental health difficulties, parental conflict and a range of other factors.

Over her 10 years of NHS experience, Dr Gomes has acquired expertise and competence in a range of assessments. This includes diagnostic ASD and ADHD assessment within a multidisciplinary team, cognitive assessments for a range of clients, and assessing children, young people, parents and families in terms of attachment, systemic difficulties and family dynamics. She also carries out adult mental health assessment interviews, assessing for anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. She has completed several assessments under joint instruction.
