Dr Devika Colwill

Dr Colwill is a general adult Consultant Psychiatrist, with over 18 years of clinical experience in mental health. She has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2009, with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry (psychological medicine). Dr Colwill is also the Responsible Clinician for detained patients from the Forensic Service, which includes patients under Section 41, section 37 and section 5 of the MHA (Restriction Order). She provides a liaison service for the complex case review panel and risk panel for the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Colwill has been approved by the Secretary of State under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 as having special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorder since 1999. Dr Colwill has worked in General Psychiatric Services including community care, crisis and inpatient care, early intervention in psychosis, Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services, Substance Misuse Services, High Secure Forensic Service, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Neurodevelopmental and Neuropsychiatric Services and Maternal Mental Health. She regularly teaches, trains and presents at academic meetings, courses and conferences locally, nationally and internationally.
