Dr Lovedeep Rai

Dr Lovedeep Rai is an experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist with specialist expertise in complex psychological assessment and therapy across clinical, forensic, and educational settings. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London and has worked extensively within the NHS, private practice, and Youth Justice Services.
Dr Rai undertakes a comprehensive range of assessments to inform care planning, intervention, and legal decision-making. This includes parenting capacity assessments, child and family assessments (attachment and relational dynamics), global psychological assessments, and cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessments (ADHD, intellectual functioning, learning difficulties, memory, and executive functioning). She is highly skilled in specialist forensic and risk assessments, including evaluations of harmful sexual behaviour, trauma-related risk, safeguarding concerns, and risk of violence and aggression for local authorities and within pre-proceedings work. Within Youth Justice Services, she has also completed fitness-to-plead assessments and detailed neurodevelopmental and cognitive evaluations to inform court proceedings and rehabilitation planning.
Alongside assessment work, Dr Rai is trained and experienced in delivering therapy using a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Her practice is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, with a focus on providing clear, practical recommendations and supporting meaningful therapeutic change for children, young people, families, and professionals. Her specialist interests include complex trauma, personality disorders, identity, neurodiversity, and understanding the trajectory of mental health difficulties through the lens of Intersectionality and the Social GRACES framework. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals and lectures on the MSc course at King’s College London.
