Dr Sonia Borghino

Dr. Sonia Borghino is a Chartered and HCPC-registered Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working across a range of forensic settings. These include prisons, the NHS, the probation service, police departments, and medium- to low-secure forensic mental health facilities. She specialises in forensic and clinical psychology.

Dr. Borghino holds Chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS), is an Associate Fellow (AFBPsS), and is a member of the Division of Forensic Psychology. Additionally, she is affiliated with the International EMDR Association UK and serves as an Honorary Lecturer on the MSc Forensic Psychology programme at the University of Kent.

She acts as an expert witness in criminal proceedings, frequently instructed by defence solicitors. Dr. Borghino is regularly commissioned to undertake risk assessments for both the Courts and the Parole Board. Her areas of expertise include the assessment of risk related to violence, domestic abuse, sexual offending, personality disorders, and other high-risk behaviours.

A qualified specialist in risk assessment, Dr. Borghino has extensive experience in the assessment, treatment, and management of individuals serving life sentences, as well as those convicted of sexual or violent offences. She also works with clients exhibiting severe personality disorders and complex mental health needs.
