Dr Joanne Bellamy-Stokoe Clinical Psychologist

Dr Joanne Bellamy-Stokoe is a HCPC registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked across many settings since qualifying in 2002. She has worked with Adults with Learning Disabilities, Young People and Adults with Autism and more recently with Children with Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. Her work has been varied and has involved working in both community and inpatient settings within a multidisciplinary context, providing psychological assessment and therapy to groups and individuals, and providing training and consultancy to direct care staff about the delivery of psychological care.

She has routinely carried out reports on matters such as cognitive ability, capacity to make decisions and the impact of learning disability upon parenting. She has also provided advice and consultancy to Social Services about how best to support parents with Learning Disabilities. In addition, Dr Bellamy-Stokoe has provided guidance to Child Care Social Work Teams about how to recognise and support Parents with Learning Disabilities. She has prepared Expert Witness Psychological Reports for the child and family and criminal courts, covering Public Law assessments of both children and adults, assessment of parenting capacity, assessment of mental capacity (including capacity to instruct), assessment of mental health needs.
