Dr Michelle Sandiford Clinical Psychologist

Dr Sandiford is a qualified clinical psychologist and clinical supervisor with over 20 years of NHS experience. Child & adolescent mental health is her chosen specialism; having accumulated a wealth of experience in community CAMHS and child and adolescent forensic mental health services. Uniquely, she also has extensive experience (a) working with adults in clinical health and clinical forensic psychology services and (b) working within primary schools as a qualified teacher. This breadth of knowledge and experience adds to the quality of service that she can offer.

Dr Sandiford has expert skills in the assessment, clinical formulation and management of several psychological conditions (including mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders and trauma). She is also experienced in the diagnostic assessment of autism and ADHD. Similarly, she is well-practiced and highly competent in conducting cognitive assessments and risk assessments across the lifespan.

She has completed British Psychological Society (BPS) approved clinical supervisor training and has several years’ experience supervising both qualified and junior psychologists. She currently works as a Principal Clinical Psychologist, offering specialist child and adolescent clinical forensic assessment, consultation and intervention to services for young people in eight boroughs across North West London.

Within her NHS role, she has management responsibilities and is trained in root cause analysis and complaints management. She often completes investigation reports for the Trust.

Outside of the NHS, Dr Sandiford has served as an expert witness for approximately 10 years. Within this role, she has conducted assessments and written reports for courts in criminal and civil cases. She has also privately offered therapeutic support for families and young people. She offers an integrative therapeutic approach, although she has specialist training in DBT, RE-CBT and EMDR.
